Taxing Lessons

The most interesting lesson last week was the tax preparation lesson on Thursday.  I walked Michelle through her tax returns via Turbo Tax.  It was too easy.  I should have grabbed some paper forms from the library and had her fill out her forms the good old fashioned way.

We had a nice little discussion about how she gave the US government a loan, all year long.  The government used her money to provide services or aid and now they’re going to give it back to her – and she can do it all over again this year.   An interest free loan, that the government pays back to her, in other words.

Discussing government with Michelle is always interesting.  To say the least.  I think she’s an Anarcho-Capitalist at heart.
