We don’t believe in FCATs – (Florida’s mandatory standardized testing). That has been one of the BEST things about homeschooling, no FCATS. Every testing year, the school board has sent Michelle an "invitation" to join the FCAT takers but every year we have declined the invitation. No thanks, it’s not necessary.
Michelle just received a very large packet of FCAT paperwork and a note that says she is to report at room X on X day to take her FCATS. Uh no. I don’t think so. I’m about to make a phone call to the dual enrollment office and nicely remind the folks there that Michelle is enrolled "IN NAME ONLY" at the local high school and is exempt from testing.
I have never had a single problem with the school district regarding homeschooling. Surely this isn’t going to be an issue… is it?
Wish me luck, just in case!
No problem, ignore the notice. They "accidentally" sent it to all registered "juniors". I certainly hope all of the dual enrolled homeschoolers realize they can ignore the letter and don’t think their kids are required to take the FCATS due to dual enrollment.
